A fatal road accident occurred on the Dwarka Expressway near Shriram Chowk in Gurugram, Haryana, on Thursday, claiming the lives of two laborers and leaving two others severely injured. The crash took place when an uncontrolled, high-speed car coming from the Delhi side rammed directly into four workers stationed near the green belt along the stretch.
Speeding Vehicle Loses Control Near Shriram Chowk
The vehicle was being driven by a 20-year-old student identified as Vedan Khanna. According to preliminary reports, the impact was severe enough to cause instantaneous deaths for two laborers while inflicting serious injuries on the remaining two workers. The driver, Vedan Khanna, was also critically injured in the crash. After receiving initial medical care at a nearby medical facility, he was referred to Fortis Hospital for advanced treatment.
Victims Identified as Uttar Pradesh Residents
The two deceased workers were identified as Bijendra and Pappu Singh, both hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The injured laborers have been identified as Satish Chand and Ram Kumar, who are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, secured the location, and sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations.
Concerns Raised Over Security Protocols
Initial police findings revealed significant lapses in safety measures at the site. Despite construction and maintenance work taking place along the busy expressway, adequate safety barriers, reflective markers, or caution boards were entirely absent near the green belt. Authorities have registered a case regarding the incident and initiated a thorough investigation to determine responsibility for the crash and the safety negligence.
