In recent times, the problem of fatty liver is spreading rapidly among people due to poor dietary habits and a disrupted lifestyle. To keep your liver healthy, it is essential to first improve your daily diet. Doctor Saleem Zaidi has given a proper rating to different foods to explain which foods are beneficial in fatty liver and which ones cause harm.
Packaged Juices and Refined Carbs Labelled Harmful
-
Packaged fruit juice: Doctor Saleem Zaidi states that if you are troubled by fatty liver issues, you must completely avoid including packaged fruit juices in your diet. He explains that eating whole fruit is much more beneficial than drinking juice because fruits provide essential fiber. On the other hand, packaged fruit juices contain an excessive amount of sugar. Consuming high amounts of sugar can deposit fat in your liver, making you a victim of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, while also increasing the risk of insulin resistance which raises the danger of type-2 diabetes. Due to these reasons, the doctor has given packaged juice a score of one out of ten.
White rice and maida: Doctor Saleem Zaidi places white rice and refined flour at three out of ten. According to him, consuming refined carbohydrate foods like rice, maida, and biscuits is like poison for individuals struggling with fatty liver. These foods lack adequate nutritional value, and eating them in large quantities increases blood sugar along with body weight, which can aggravate the fatty liver condition even faster.
Curd, Butter Milk and Turmeric Milk Score High
-
Curd and buttermilk: According to Doctor Saleem Zaidi, consuming curd and buttermilk is equivalent to nectar for a fatty liver. In fact, the probiotics present in curd and buttermilk help correct the connection between the gut and the liver. Therefore, the doctor has given both of these dairy foods a score of eight out of ten.

Turmeric milk: Doctor Saleem Zaidi mentions that turmeric milk is exceptionally beneficial for the liver. Turmeric contains curcumin, which can normalize liver enzymes and reverse fatty liver. He also added that a pinch of black pepper should definitely be mixed into it for enhanced benefits. The doctor has awarded this a score of nine out of ten.
