Traditional artistry and festive grandeur came together as Nita Ambani attended the Reliance Diwali celebration at the Jio World Centre in an ornate cultural ensemble. For the gathering, she selected a vermilion-tinted 'Swadesh Ramavali' silk saree inspired by devotion to Lord Vishnu and Lord Ram. Delicate lotus flower motifs are woven across the textile, complementing its spiritual theme. Bringing this singular handcrafted drape to life required nearly 5 months of dedicated labor from traditional weavers.
The Craftsmanship of Ajay Bhoj and Kadwa Weaving
The creation of this garment highlights a conscious revival of historic Indian textile traditions. Renowned textile revivalist and master artisan Ajay Bhoj spent around five months hand-weaving the piece entirely from pure silk yarns. Set against a deep vermilion-red foundation, the sacred name 'Shri Ram' is inscribed repeatedly throughout the fabric. The design concept draws from 'Ram' and 'Namavali', a Sanskrit term signifying a garland of divine names. The artisan employed Varanasi's famed and intricate 'Kadwa' weaving technique, where each motif and scripted character is individually hand-woven without loose threads at the back, giving every sacred word an elevated, sculpted presence.
Sacred Motifs and Ornate Brocade Detailing
Skilled Varanasi weavers combined historical iconography with rich brocade craftsmanship to reflect India's living cultural roots. Through the 'Swadesh' initiative, Nita Ambani showcased this centuries-old craft on a major festive platform. The saree borders feature heavy gold zari brocade work displaying classic floral arrangements. The pallu serves as the focal point of the drape, displaying finely detailed imprints of Lord Vishnu's sacred feet alongside Om symbols and lotus blossoms. She paired the saree with a matching deep red silk blouse patterned with fine diagonal gold trellis motifs, finished with elaborate brocade borders wrapping around the sleeves and neckline.
Temple Jewelry Accents and Festive Styling
Known for her distinct traditional jewelry, Nita Ambani complemented the attire with an imposing multi-layered necklace crafted in classical temple jewelry style. The piece showcases detailed gold metalwork set with uncut diamonds, polki stones, and deep green emerald beads, finished with cascading natural pearl drops along the lower edge. She coordinated the necklace with matching oversized statement jhumkas that mirrored the neckpiece motifs. Her wrists were adorned with fine gold bangles and bracelets accented with touches of red, while minimal makeup and a neat red bindi completed the appearance.
