Police in the Amb area of Himachal Pradesh's Una district have cracked down on a drug-peddling operation being run directly from a residential house. Authorities arrested three individuals, including a mother and her son, after recovering a significant quantity of illegal narcotics from the premises. The swift operation has highlighted ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
How the Operation Began
According to law enforcement officials, Amb Station House Officer Inspector Vipan Sharma was out on routine patrol with his police team. On Tuesday, officers encountered a young man named Shubham near the Amb-Andaura railway station. During questioning, the individual admitted to struggling with substance abuse and revealed he was headed to a house located in ward number 8 to purchase drugs. Acting promptly on this vital tip, officers surrounded and raided the designated residence.
Recovery of Contraband During House Search
When the police team conducted a thorough search of the premises, they uncovered hidden narcotics stashed across different rooms. Underneath a bed mattress in the main hall, officers found eight small foil-wrapped bits of contraband. Furthermore, a search of another room revealed two transparent pouches hidden behind an iron almirah. The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to 17.68 grams, which included 16.15 grams from the pouches and 1.53 grams from the foil wraps.
Identities of the Accused and Next Legal Steps
Authorities formally arrested three suspects identified as Ranjana Devi, her son Nishant Kumar, and a third individual named Vishal Kumar, all residents of Amb. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against all three accused as investigations proceed. Superintendent of Police Sachin Hiremath confirmed the arrests and stated that police crackdowns against local drug syndicates will continue aggressively.
