A fatal road accident occurred in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening when a vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge. The incident took place in the Sheildhar area of Surankote, claiming the lives of six people, including two women. Three other passengers sustained injuries during the crash and were transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. According to official details, the vehicle lost control while traversing a hilly stretch in Sheildhar, leading to its descent into the ravine. Upon receiving emergency alerts, the 108 Ambulance service along with additional medical units and rescue personnel were rushed to the spot. Rescuers worked alongside local residents to extricate the victims from the damaged vehicle. Among the three injured survivors, a young girl remains in critical condition and is receiving specialized medical attention.

Confirming the tragic occurrence, Poonch Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma stated that six individuals died instantly in the Wednesday evening crash while three others were injured. He highlighted that administrative teams launched swift rescue operations to ensure all survivors received prompt medical care. Providing further medical updates, Poonch Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvez Khan stated that the bodies of four men and two women were brought to the district hospital. He noted that all deceased victims were young adults aged between 20 and 25 years.
