A fresh political row erupted in Ranchi after national Congress secretary Amba Prasad was forced to vacate her official government residence by the administration. Following the eviction, Prasad took a firm stand by setting up a tent right outside the very same bungalow and staging a sit-in protest where she lit earthen lamps to mark Choti Diwali.
Expressing strong displeasure over the swift action, Prasad lashed out and claimed that a special, pre-planned strategy was executed against her. She pointed out the timing of the eviction just a day before a major festival, questioning why several former legislators from the opposition continue to retain their official quarters without facing similar punitive measures from the authorities.
Prasad alleged that the selective action might be driven by an underlying intention to push women away from active politics. She asserted that certain individuals enjoy special patronage and remain untouched, while she was singled out. Highlighting her strong emotional attachment to the residence, she maintained that she would celebrate the festive occasion right there on the street.
Detailing the immediate disruptions caused by the sudden eviction, Prasad noted that her brother's wedding is scheduled for the coming days, and several pre-wedding functions had already been planned from this very house. She reiterated that the administration acted abruptly without serving proper notices, adding that she retains complete faith in her party to take appropriate cognizance of the matter.
