Construction work on the nearly 5-kilometer rail bypass line linking Kumrabad Rohini to the Deoghar Link Cabin is now fully finished. Built with a capital outlay of approximately 293 crore rupees, this specialized rail corridor is positioned to bring far-reaching advantages to passengers across Deoghar and neighboring districts.
Potential Express Halts to Transform Rohini Station
The most visible transformation linked to this development is expected at Rohini railway station. Historically, Rohini has served primarily as a minor halt accommodating MEMU and slow local passenger services. With the operationalization of this new bypass line, expectations have surged that several long-distance express services might receive scheduled halts at Rohini. Such an addition would dramatically lower the reliance of local commuters on Jasidih Junction, offering direct boarding options right in their home vicinity.
Local commuters have expressed genuine optimism regarding the prospective halting of express trains. A regular commuter named Shyan Gupta noted that introducing express stops at a station previously confined to local passenger trains would provide massive convenience. He explained that people would no longer face the mandatory hassle of traveling to Jasidih merely to board express services, significantly cutting daily transit duration.
Crucial Proximity Advantage for AIIMS Deoghar Patients
The proposed express stops at Rohini also carry vital implications for healthcare accessibility across the region. Highlighting this aspect, passenger Rakesh Kumar pointed out that an express halt at Rohini would provide immense relief to inbound medical patients and their families. At present, patients arriving via train at Jasidih railway station must undertake a journey of around 7 to 8 kilometers to access the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Deoghar.
In contrast, Rohini station sits at a significantly shorter physical distance from the AIIMS hospital facility. Halting express trains at Rohini would grant inbound patients a much swifter transit to medical care, sparing frail travelers and their attendants the fatigue and expense of navigating a longer road journey from Jasidih.
Bypassing Jasidih to Eliminate Engine Reversals and Save 45 Minutes
Operationally, the 5-kilometer corridor resolves a major structural bottleneck that has long slowed train timetables through the zone. Under the traditional arrangement, numerous services transiting past Deoghar, such as the Ranchi-Dumka Intercity Express and the Mayurakshi Express, were obliged to divert into Jasidih Junction exclusively to execute an engine reversal. The mechanical process of shifting the locomotive from one end of the rake to the other routinely consumed anywhere between 40 and 45 minutes of dead time.
Once the bypass line enters full active service, trains will no longer need to enter Jasidih Junction solely for directional changes. Instead, rakes can bypass the congested junction entirely, tracking straight through Kumrabad Rohini onto their designated routes. This streamlined operational path is slated to deliver travel time savings ranging from 45 minutes to a full hour for rail commuters moving through Jhajha, Jamui, and Simultala.
