A harrowing case of repeated sexual assault involving a 12-year-old girl has surfaced in Jharkhand's Gumla district, triggering widespread shock and legal action. The minor, a student of class five, had been subjected to sustained abuse over a span of several months before the crime came to light. The situation unraveled when the child suddenly fell ill at home, prompting her concerned family members to take her to a local healthcare facility. During medical evaluation, doctors made the disturbing discovery that the child was three months pregnant, which led her to recount the horrific ordeal to her parents.
Medical Evaluation and Transfer to Higher Healthcare Centers
The incident occurred within a village falling under the jurisdiction of the Kamdara police station in Gumla district. Over the course of approximately three months, four individuals allegedly took the young victim to different isolated locations and assaulted her repeatedly, resulting in a three-month pregnancy. When her health deteriorated severely, relatives initially admitted her to the Kamdara hospital. Given the complexity and sensitivity of her physical condition, doctors referred her to the Gumla Sadar Hospital. Following emergency stabilization and primary medical attention at the Sadar facility, authorities arranged for her transfer under police escort to RIMS in Ranchi for advanced medical care.
Disclosures to Classmates Lead to Police Action
The distressing abuse initially remained concealed until September 30, when the fifth-grade student confided in her close friends about what she had been enduring. Once these friends alerted the family, the parents questioned the child gently, prompting her to disclose the sequence of assaults that had transpired at various spots over the preceding three months. Moving swiftly upon learning the facts, the victim's mother submitted a formal written complaint at the local police station, leading investigators to register an official first information report against all four identified perpetrators.
Three Apprehended While Manhunt Continues for Fourth Suspect
The police complaint identified the four individuals as 18-year-old Laxman Lohra alias Jamu Lohra, 18-year-old Krishna Lohra, 23-year-old Mangru Lohra alias Rajan Lohra, and 51-year-old Gahnu Munda. Following the registration of the case, law enforcement teams moved to apprehend three of the accused persons and subsequently remanded them to judicial custody in jail. A fourth suspect managed to evade initial capture, and specialized search teams are currently conducting raids across potential hideouts to trace him. Police officials confirmed that the legal proceedings are progressing steadily based on the formal statement of the survivor and the clinical findings of her medical examination.
