According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy cloud cover will persist over the majority of the state, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in several districts. Along with the showers, the weather bureau has warned of thunderstorm activity and gusty winds blowing at speeds between 40 to 50 kmph. There is also an ongoing risk of lightning strikes in several areas. A rainfall alert has been officially issued for 18 districts, including Ranchi and Dumka. While the rainfall is expected to provide some relief from the heat in Ranchi and surrounding areas, high humidity levels are likely to persist throughout the day.

The monsoon has strengthened its grip over Jharkhand. Districts expected to experience intermittent rain or thundershowers today include Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj, East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Godda, and Lohardaga. Light to moderate precipitation is anticipated in these regions throughout the day.
Warning Against Thunderstorms and Lightning
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a specific warning regarding lightning and gusty winds for East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Deoghar, and Dumka. Citizens are strongly advised to avoid staying in open fields, near tall trees, or close to electrical poles during these weather events. Finding shelter in safe, enclosed structures is crucial when the weather conditions deteriorate.
Pleasant Weather Prospects
Due to the cloud cover and rainfall, the temperature is expected to remain relatively lower in Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, and West Singhbhum. While these regions may still feel humid, the absence of harsh direct sunlight will bring significant comfort to the local population, creating a pleasant atmosphere for the day. In the previous 24 hours, significant rainfall was recorded in the Bokaro region, while Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas also witnessed showers accompanied by lightning.

While most of the state will experience cooler conditions, parts of Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, and Latehar may see breaks in the cloud cover, leading to more intense heat. The maximum temperature in these specific districts could reach 34-35°C, whereas regions receiving steady rainfall will experience lower readings.

The minimum temperature across Jharkhand is projected to stay between 23°C and 27°C. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in most districts is expected to hover between 30°C and 34°C, with the Palamu and Garhwa regions likely reaching 34-35°C. In major centers like Ranchi, Bokaro, and Jamshedpur, the mercury is expected to stay in the 31-33°C range. The meteorological department urges residents to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel or venturing into open spaces when lightning is present.
