Preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities are gathering momentum across Medininagar in Jharkhand's Palamu district. At Bairiya Chowk, the Genius Club Puja committee is developing an ambitious architectural theme to give devotees an extraordinary celebratory experience. The organizers have chosen to model their central festive structure after Disney's iconic Cinderella Castle, creating a 110-foot tall installation that promises to become a marquee visual attraction for visitors across the city, using bamboo and bit framing.
Design Inspired by Tokyo Disney Castle
Committee representatives explained that the concept draws directly from the globally recognized fairy-tale imagery of Disney theme parks. Specifically, the architectural layout taking shape in Medininagar takes its visual cues from the Cinderella Castle located in Tokyo, Japan. The sanctum within this palatial setup will enshrine the deity of Maa Bhagwati. Organizers are engineering the entire space so that entering devotees feel as though they have stepped into an authentic storybook kingdom.
Custom Laser Show and Evening Illumination
Outlining the visual presentation, Piyush noted that in addition to conventional decorative lamps, the venue will incorporate an advanced laser light show. The beam projections operating across the upper spires will serve as a primary nighttime spectacle for worshippers. The electrical and lighting architecture has been carefully calibrated to ensure that as darkness sets in, the entire facade glows like an enchanting fairy-tale fortress.
Artisans from Bengal Sculpting 14-Foot Idol
The sacred idol of Goddess Durga to be housed inside the castle structure is being sculpted by skilled artisans brought in from Bengal. For this edition of the puja, the statue will stand approximately 14 feet tall. Committee members are working around the clock to align the finishing of the idol with the completion of the main pavilion. According to the construction timeline, the bulk of structural and artistic duties will wrap up between Panchami and Sasthi.
Project Budget of Rs 20 Lakh and Material Use
Genius Club has estimated an overall expenditure of around Rs 20 lakh to bring this expansive production to life. Achieving the 110-foot vertical span alongside high-end lighting installations accounts for the substantial layout. Organizing officials stated that while they introduce a novel theme every autumn, the scale of this current project stands among their most ambitious undertakings to date. Structural teams have already utilized between two and two-and-a-half truckloads of bamboo to erect the frame.
Tradition Since 1992 and Grand Navami Feast
Genius Club has maintained an unbroken legacy of celebrating Durga Puja at Bairiya Chowk since 1992. Beyond religious ceremonies, extensive community dining arrangements have been organized for visiting pilgrims. Sacred offerings will be distributed on Saptami and Ashtami, culminating in a grand community feast on the day of Navami. Spearheading the logistical preparations are committee president Rakesh Singh, patron Mukesh Singh, treasurer Piyush Raj, media in-charge Praveen Tiwari, supported actively by Sheetal, Shakti, Rahul, Nitin, Ankit Gautam, Deepak, Shourav, and fellow members.
