The festive fervour in Bokaro is touching new heights as preparations for Durga Puja enter their final stages across various localities. Among all the celebrations, the Sector-2C Durga Puja pandal is emerging as the prime centre of attraction this year. The organizing committee has chosen to construct a breathtaking replica inspired by the renowned Swaminarayan Temple of Nashik, Maharashtra. This architectural marvel has already generated immense curiosity and excitement among residents and devotees who are eagerly waiting to witness the final outcome of this massive creative undertaking.
A 100-foot structure built with Rs 15 lakh
This magnificent pandal is being constructed with an estimated budget of about Rs 15 lakh to achieve an authentic temple-like grandeur. Once completed, the structure will stand at an impressive height of 100 feet with a width of 110 feet, making it visible from afar. Inside this grand architectural creation, the idol of Goddess Durga will stand approximately 10 feet tall. The sheer scale and intricate artistic details are expected to draw massive crowds from all over the region during the festive days.
Skilled artisans working round the clock
Bringing this ambitious architectural vision to life requires specialized craftsmanship, for which skilled artisans from West Bengal and local Pindrajora have joined forces. Sandeep, the president of the Sector-2C Durga Puja pandal committee, shared that construction work has been underway since the 16th of last month. A dedicated team of 35 to 40 artisans is working day and night to ensure that every single detail, from structural stability to fine decoration, meets the highest standards of perfection.
Cloth finishing and intricate thermocol designs
Elaborating on the artistic process, artisan Atabuddin explained that he and his fellow craftsmen have been engaged in the project relentlessly. At present, the primary focus is on fabric finishing and basic structural decoration of the pandal framework. Following this phase, specialized designs crafted from thermocol will be integrated to replicate the distinctive architectural motifs of the original temple, adding depth and authenticity to the visual appeal.
Doors opening to devotees on Shashthi
The much-anticipated public unveiling of this grand pandal is scheduled for the auspicious day of Shashthi. Following the inauguration, devotees and visitors will finally be allowed entry to offer prayers to Goddess Durga and explore the surrounding festive fair. The management committee is making comprehensive logistical arrangements to handle the anticipated surge of visitors smoothly throughout the celebrations.
Robust security with CCTV cameras and volunteers
Safety and crowd control are receiving top priority during this year's festivities. Committee president Sandeep noted that approximately 35 closed-circuit television cameras will be installed across the pandal and fairgrounds for continuous monitoring. Furthermore, a dedicated team of 100 to 150 volunteers equipped with a specific dress code will be deployed on the ground to manage movement and assist visitors. To counter fire hazards, proper firefighting equipment has been installed, and the necessary no-objection certificate has already been secured from the relevant authorities. Ample parking spaces and organized traffic management protocols are also being put in place to guarantee a hassle-free experience for everyone attending the event.
