Jharkhand is bracing for another spell of monsoon activity today, with the weather office forecasting clouds and rain over nearly two dozen districts. Gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph accompanied by thunder are also expected through the day. There is no large-scale heavy rainfall alert in place for the state, though isolated pockets could see sharp showers and lightning strikes. Ranchi, Deoghar, Hazaribagh and Dumka are among the districts expecting light to moderate rain today.
Which districts are likely to get rain
According to the Ranchi meteorological office, 18 to 22 districts across the state could receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers today. Rainfall is expected to be more intense in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Ramgarh, Pakur, Sahibganj and Jamtara. Temperatures in districts that receive rain could fall by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, offering some relief from the humidity.
Where the storm and lightning risk is highest
Several parts of eastern, central and southern Jharkhand are likely to witness thunder and strong winds today. Lightning strikes have been flagged as a possibility around Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Saraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum. People have been urged to stay away from open fields, trees and electric poles during this period. Farmers working in fields have also been told not to take shelter under trees or in open areas, since the lightning threat extends across the entire state today.
Where the heat and humidity will be sharper
Rainfall activity is expected to stay comparatively low in the northwestern districts of Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar and Chatra. As a result, daytime temperatures there are likely to feel higher than in the rest of the state, with humidity persisting through the day.
Where the weather will feel most pleasant
In contrast, Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum could see cloud cover and intermittent rain, keeping conditions relatively pleasant. Temperatures in these districts are expected to stay close to normal.
How much rain fell across the state yesterday
Scattered rain was recorded in several districts of Jharkhand over the past 24 hours. Bokaro logged around 10 millimetres of rainfall, while Jamshedpur saw no rain during the period, even though clouds hung over the city and the chance of thunder-linked showers remained. Light drizzle and cloud cover were also observed in a number of other districts.

No large-scale heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Jharkhand today, but several districts remain under warning for thunder, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph. People have been advised to stay in a safe location during bad weather and to keep track of official updates.
