A major railway disaster was narrowly averted in the Hazaribagh district when the Vande Bharat Express travelling from Ranchi to Patna collided with a tractor-trolley stationed directly on the tracks. The incident occurred late at night between the Charki and Base railway stations, creating immediate panic among the passengers on board. Fortunately, despite the severe impact, no injuries or casualties were reported, and everyone on the train remained safe.
Immediate Brake Application and Halt
The collision between the high-speed train and the wood-laden vehicle was forceful enough to cause minor damage to the front section of the train. Immediately following the impact, the train driver displayed immense alertness and brought the vehicle to a halt. Consequently, the Vande Bharat Express remained stranded at the accident site for approximately 41 minutes while authorities were alerted.
Technical Clearance and Resumption of Journey
Upon halting, a dedicated technical team rushed to the location to conduct a thorough inspection of the train infrastructure. After rigorously fulfilling all safety protocols and ensuring the route was entirely clear of hazards, the train was cleared to continue its journey toward Patna. Although the midnight incident triggered temporary chaos and anxiety among the passengers, the confirmation that no one was injured brought widespread relief.

This alarming incident has raised serious questions regarding the overall security and surveillance along the railway tracks. Authorities are deeply concerned about how a tractor-trolley loaded with timber managed to breach the perimeter and reach the tracks on such a vital route. Police and railway officials are jointly investigating the identity of the tractor driver and the circumstances that brought the vehicle so close to the tracks at that hour. Operations on the line have since resumed normally after securing the track.
