Almost every household uses lemons, but once the juice is squeezed out, most people simply throw the peel in the trash. In reality, the peel is packed with antioxidants and also contains vitamin C. Beauty expert Sunidhi from Ranchi says that if this same peel is rubbed correctly on the elbows, knees and feet, it can naturally clear away dark, dull patches on the skin.
Why dark elbows and knees become such a bother
To clean up dark elbows and knees, people often end up spending thousands of rupees on manicures at beauty parlours. The darkness that builds up specifically on the elbows and knees can also leave many women feeling embarrassed. To get rid of it, women often apply creams worth thousands of rupees, but the results rarely match the expectation. According to Sunidhi, adopting this small home remedy can leave the skin noticeably clearer and brighter within just a month.
How to prepare this simple home mixture
There is nothing expensive involved here. Simply save the peel of the lemon you already use every day instead of throwing it away. Then add a few grains of ordinary sugar, the kind found in every kitchen, into the peel, along with a little baking soda. All of this needs to go inside the lemon peel itself, turning it into a natural scrubbing tool.
The right way to apply and use it
Rub the peel loaded with this mixture continuously for 1 to 2 minutes on the elbows, knees, and any other part of the body where dark patches show up. After rubbing, leave it on the skin for at least half an hour. If there is more time available, it can even be left on for a full hour without any harm. Once that time is up, wash it off with clean water. Sunidhi advises doing this both in the morning and in the evening. Following this routine consistently starts showing a visible difference within just a week.
Less need to visit the parlour
Sunidhi explains that besides antioxidants, lemon also contains plenty of vitamin C and folic acid, which is why it removes dead skin from the body so easily. Baking soda, meanwhile, is effective at clearing away grime, and sugar works as an excellent scrub. When all three combine, they clear away even stubborn dark patches on the skin. As a result, the need to repeatedly visit a parlour for manicures or to buy expensive creams drops considerably.
