Physical beauty heavily relies on the overall appearance of our skin, but keeping the skin spotlessly clean is not always an easy task. Often, the dark pigmentation around the neck ruins one's entire look and is quite difficult to get rid of easily. Many times, people tend to completely ignore the darkening of the neck area while focusing extensively on facial care, forgetting to apply sunscreen to the back of the neck where dirt gradually accumulates over time. Although dark skin on the neck cannot be vanished overnight, it can certainly be reduced by trying out some effective home remedies. PoonamDevnani shared a wonderful home remedy in a video, detailing how to tackle this issue effectively.
Essential Ingredients for the Special Remedy
With the festival of Karwa Chauth approaching fast, women try out numerous beauty tips and focus heavily on facial glow, but accumulated grime around the neck often becomes a major annoyance. To effectively clear out the dirt trapped in the neck region, you need to gather toothpaste, one spoonful of salt, two spoons of milk, coconut oil, and baking soda. Combine all of these ingredients thoroughly in a bowl to form a smooth paste, then apply it evenly across your neck region. Allow the applied paste to dry for about 10 to 15 minutes, making sure that the baking soda used is fresh and not too old for optimal results.
Application on Elbows and Feet
If you prefer, this versatile paste can also be used on your elbows and feet to clear away dark patches. Once the paste dries after 10 to 15 minutes, take a sliced tomato and gently rub it over the treated areas of your neck. Rub the tomato slowly and smoothly over the paste on your neck and elbows, as tomatoes act as a natural cleanser containing oxalic and citric acids. Similarly, baking soda serves as an exceptional, safe, and natural cleansing agent that effectively extracts deep-seated grime from the neck.
Cleaning Process and Visible Results
After rubbing the tomato for 3 to 5 minutes, wipe the paste away cleanly using a napkin or tissue paper, allowing the remarkable effect of the tomato and baking soda combination to become clearly visible. This homemade paste easily lifts away stubborn dirt accumulated on the neck, elbows, and knees, making the skin look noticeably cleaner. The neck might not become completely spotless in the very first attempt, but a slight difference will surely be visible. Repeating this cleaning process two to three times will successfully banish the accumulated grime from the neck.
When to Consult a Physician
If you notice dark rings around your neck that refuse to fade despite trying multiple home remedies, or if the darkening is spreading across other parts of your body or increasing suddenly, you should immediately consult a doctor. This may not simply be the result of poor hygiene or sun exposure, but could instead be an indication of a medical condition known as acanthosis nigricans. In this condition, the skin not only turns dark but also feels thick and velvety, which can be triggered by diabetes or other underlying health issues. Seek medical guidance to properly address this condition.
