With the festival of lights approaching, cleaning the entire house is in full swing, and deep cleaning the kitchen is considered the biggest task. In particular, cleaning the stubborn grease accumulated over time on containers holding spices, pulses, and sugar in the kitchen feels like hard work. The grease and dust flying around during daily cooking stick to these containers, making them look sticky and dirty. If you also want to make your kitchen containers shine like brand new this Diwali, you can use simple home remedies instead of expensive chemical cleaners from the market.
The Magic of Baking Soda and Lemon
Baking soda and lemon are considered the best combination for removing stubborn kitchen grease. To use this method, take lukewarm water in a bowl and mix two to three spoons of baking soda into it. Now squeeze half a lemon into this mixture. Soak your plastic or glass containers in this solution for fifteen to twenty minutes. After that, gently scrub them using a sponge or scrubber. The grease will disappear, and the containers will shine brightly.
Vinegar and Dish Soap Solution
White vinegar is a natural degreaser that is effective in cleaning both glass and plastic containers. For this, mix equal amounts of white vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle. Also, mix a little liquid dish soap into it. Spray this solution thoroughly on the dirty containers and leave them for ten minutes. Afterward, clean them with plain water and a scrubber. This will remove the stickiness accumulated on the containers.
Warm Water and Detergent Solution
If your containers are not too dirty, this method is the most effective. For this, take very hot water in a large tub and mix washing powder or detergent and a little salt into it. Leave the containers submerged in this water for half an hour. Hot water melts the grease, making it easy to remove the dirt by scrubbing with a Scotch Brite.
