UAE denounces Iran's strike on two ADNOC ships in Strait of Hormuz
The United Arab Emirates on Friday strongly denounced a strike by Iran that hit two ships connected with the state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) during their passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has established a virtual blockade across the strategic passage and is seeking to levy fees on passing maritime traffic—a move strongly rejected by Washington. Tehran is currently engaged in discussions with Oman regarding future administrative control of the waterway. According to a formal statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the nation criticized the "hostile Iranian action targeting two ships linked to ADNOC while navigating the Strait of Hormuz," noting that no casualties or injuries were sustained. State news agency WAM reported that ADNOC verified two of its maritime units came under assault during their transit on Thursday night, confirming that the situation was subsequently "brought under control."
