Sharif also pointed out the significance of adhering to the obligations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which he referred to as a lasting framework to encourage mutual understanding, respect, and shared prosperity both regionally and globally. Reiterating his nation's firm stance on regional harmony, Sharif promised Pezeshkian that Islamabad is prepared to continue its "honest and sincere role" in enabling discussions and backing efforts to maintain peace and stability.

Iran maintained that it had strictly honored its commitments regarding the ceasefire with America, countering President Donald Trump's declarations that the truce had ended even as he consented to more talks with the nation. These statements represent a fresh decline in ties between the adversaries. This comes after an exchange of military fire during the week destabilized a fragile deal that was intended to transition the months-long truce into a permanent peace, raising the specter of a full-scale war across the region.

After public demands for his assassination were voiced during the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, U.S. President Donald Trump directed threats at Iran. This development highlights the deep tensions in West Asia as the temporary peace agreement suffers under persistent crossfire. Trump shared these thoughts on Truth Social after high-ranking American officials insisted that Tehran publicly announce that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and that vessels navigating the critical route will face no further attacks. On his social media site, Trump wrote that "1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat."

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, has emphasized that Tehran is fully prepared for a "full-scale defence" if Washington violates the Memorandum of Understanding inked by both nations last month. In a statement shared via Telegram about his talks with Ahmad Muzani, the Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Ghalibaf stated that Iran holds "zero trust" in the United States. He noted that he conveyed this message directly to U.S. Vice President JD Vance during the latest round of peace talks. "During the negotiations, I made it clear to the Vice President of the United States that we have zero trust in you. In my view, only those prepared for war can negotiate with the U.S. We have never ceased our preparations to defend our country. The moment the Americans betray any understanding, we are prepared for a full-scale defence; we will stand firmly against them and will claim the rights of the Iranian nation," the post noted.

Senior American officials stated on Friday that the United States is seeking a public commitment from Iran to end attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and to ensure all channels of the waterway remain open to transport without any fees. Iran has firmly rejected relinquishing its authority over the strait, which serves as a vital passage for roughly 20 percent of global oil shipments.
