Sultanpur: A tragic road accident in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh has claimed the life of a doctor and left two of his colleagues seriously injured. The mishap occurred when three doctors travelling together in a car were rushing to perform a surgical procedure on a patient. While trying to overtake another vehicle, their speeding car lost control and smashed violently against the railing of a bridge. Emergency services rushed to the spot following the crash, shifting the victims to a medical facility where one doctor was pronounced dead. The local police have taken custody of the deceased doctor's body and initiated post-mortem procedures, while the injured individuals are receiving medical attention.
Accident on Ayodhya-Prayagraj Highway
Providing details of the incident on Tuesday, local authorities stated that the crash took place late Monday night near the Dariyapur railway overbridge on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway. The 35-year-old doctor and his colleagues were in a rush to attend to a critical patient. Earlier, all three doctors had successfully completed an operation at a private nursing home in Amahat and were speeding towards a hospital in Dariyapur to handle another severely ill patient. During the journey, while attempting an overਾेक manoeuvre, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash straight into the bridge railing. Dr. Akhtar, a resident of Gabhadia who was driving the car, died on the spot from the severe impact.
Two Other Doctors Injured in the Crash
The accident also left the two accompanying doctors, surgeon Dr. Shailendra Jaiswal and Dr. Rashid, with critical injuries. Immediately after the collision, emergency responders shifted both injured doctors to the government medical college for urgent treatment. Given the severity of their conditions, they were subsequently referred to a trauma center in Lucknow for advanced care. Circle Officer Raghvendra Singh confirmed that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and noted that law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances and causes that led to the vehicle losing control during the late-night journey.
