A deeply unsettling incident has emerged from the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh, where a 14-year-old minor girl gave birth to a healthy infant at the district hospital. The situation came to light when the teenager was rushed to the medical facility by her family members, who initially believed she was experiencing severe stomach pain. The subsequent discovery of her pregnancy left her relatives in complete shock, exposing a grave case of exploitation.
The Unseen Exploitation and Medical Emergency
The victim, a resident of the Bakal police station area, was reportedly targeted and trapped by a 22-year-old man. The accused allegedly lured the minor and repeatedly subjected her to sexual assault, which eventually led to her pregnancy. Shockingly, the girl's family remained completely oblivious to her physical condition throughout the period. It was only when she complained of sudden and excruciating pain in her abdomen that her guardians decided to seek immediate medical intervention at the Katni district hospital.
The Delivery and Swift Reporting by Doctors
Upon her admission to the hospital, preliminary examinations conducted by the attending medical staff revealed that the minor was in an advanced stage of pregnancy. Shortly thereafter, she delivered a healthy baby under medical care. Realising the legal and social gravity of the situation, the hospital's health department immediately notified the local police outpost located on the hospital premises. Law enforcement officers quickly initiated an inquiry, during which the traumatised victim narrated her ordeal and identified the person responsible for her condition.
Legal Actions and Ongoing Search
Kotwali TI Rakhi Pandey confirmed the sequence of events, stating that as soon as the hospital authorities passed on the information, the Slimnabad SDOP and the Bakal police station in-charge were formally apprised of the situation. Following this, the Bakal police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act alongside other severe sections of the law against the 22-year-old accused. Currently, both the minor mother and her newborn are under constant medical observation at the district hospital, while the police are actively hunting for the absconding suspect.
