A shocking case has emerged from West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, where a 13-year-old minor was allegedly abducted, administered a sedative, raped, and blackmailed through explicit photographs. The victim's family has formally lodged a complaint at the Baguiati police station, naming Sukanya Das, Debojit Sarkar, Kunal Kumar Raut, and several others. This incident follows a previous horrific case in the same district where an 11th-grade student was raped and murdered in Gaighata.
According to the police complaint, the minor left her home in Baguiati, North 24 Parganas, on the afternoon of Saturday, October 24, to meet a friend in Birati. It is alleged that the 13-year-old was taken from Birati to a hotel in the Bandel area of Hooghly district. There, she was allegedly given a cold drink spiked with a sedative and subjected to rape. Subsequently, intimate photographs of the victim were captured and sent to her mother to threaten and blackmail the family.
The family stated that she left home around 3:30 PM on Saturday to meet a friend named Sukanya Das. When she failed to return by evening, her mother called her at 8:30 PM. The minor informed her that she was in Barrackpore with Sukanya and would return home between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM. When she still did not return by 11:30 PM, the mother called again. An unknown person answered from a different number, claiming they saw the minor crying on the road and allowed her to use their phone.
Minor sent text message to mother stating she was in trouble
As per the family's statement, at 12:06 AM, the minor sent a message to her mother stating that she was in trouble and mentioning that Sukanya had taken her to a man named Rick's house. The family also alleged that a youth named Debojit Sarkar called the mother to reassure her that the daughter was safe. Debojit later claimed he visited that house and a caretaker told him that a four-wheeler had left the premises about 10 minutes prior, and the minor was returning home in that vehicle.
Victim recounted physical assault and sexual abuse upon returning home
The family claimed that the minor returned home between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM on Sunday, crying and deeply traumatized. The victim told her mother that she was taken somewhere in a vehicle, forced to drink water mixed with a substance, and subjected to physical assault and sexual abuse by multiple individuals. The family further claimed she was forcibly administered an emergency contraceptive pill.
The family alleged that Sukanya Das, Debojit Sarkar, Kunal Kumar Raut, and others recorded a video of the minor during the incident and used it to threaten the victim and her family, causing them to fear approaching the police immediately. Today, the family registered a formal complaint at the Baguiati police station, and local authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
