The administration in Dewas district has intensified its ongoing crackdown against the illegal manufacturing, storage, and distribution of liquor. Acting under the direct supervision and guidance of Collector Rituraj Singh, the excise department mobilized its teams to launch a coordinated strike across multiple regions of the district to dismantle local illicit liquor operations.
Targeted Operations Across Multiple Zones
The excise department teams executed a series of sudden raids in localities including Kannod, Khategaon, Nemawar, Deepgaon, and Baijagwada. During these operations, officials successfully identified eight separate instances involving the illegal production and sale of liquor. Formal charges have been registered against all involved individuals under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, and subsequent legal proceedings have been initiated to ensure accountability.
Seizure of Illicit Stock
The operation resulted in a significant haul of contraband. Authorities confiscated 70 liters of country-made raw liquor, 210 pouches of local liquor, and 24 bottles of beer. Furthermore, the team seized 4500 kilograms of Mahua Lahan, a primary ingredient used in the large-scale production of illicit alcohol. According to excise officials, the total estimated value of the confiscated items is approximately 4 lakh 83 thousand rupees. By seizing the Mahua Lahan promptly, the department has effectively prevented a much larger batch of illegal liquor from ever reaching the market, which is expected to have a meaningful impact on controlling the illicit trade within the district.
Future Enforcement and Public Cooperation
The excise department has made it clear that strict enforcement actions against those involved in the manufacturing, transport, storage, and sale of illegal alcohol will continue unabated. The department maintains a constant vigil over sensitive areas and conducts raids immediately upon receiving actionable intelligence. The administration has also issued an appeal to citizens, urging them to report any suspicious activity related to illegal liquor production or distribution to the excise department or the police. Officials believe that through this sustained campaign and active public participation, they can establish effective control over illegal businesses, thereby safeguarding public health and curbing potential revenue losses for the state.
