The angry doctors and nurses blocked the road outside the hospital, creating a brief spell of chaos. Police and administration officials rushed to the spot on getting information, and efforts to pacify the situation are still underway.

The court has sought a response from Sonam Raghuvanshi's side as well on the Meghalaya government's petition. The matter will next be heard on Thursday.

What this means for you

  • Across India: The Supreme Court's approach in high-profile cases like the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case could shape how bail hearings in similar cases are watched nationwide, making the next hearing significant.
  • In Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: After the bus-pickup accident in Dhar and the electrocution deaths in Kawardha, people need to be more careful about overtaking on roads and running current through farm fencing, while residents of Pal Colony in Shivpuri's Pichhore have gained relief now that power supply has been restored.
