Janata Dal United candidate Neeraj Kumar has secured a decisive victory in the Patna graduate constituency election. Speaking to media persons after the results were declared, Kumar asserted that grassroots workers and public support have successfully humbled money power and muscle power. When reporters questioned him about the sweets that had reportedly been prepared by the opposition camp ahead of the counting, Kumar made a sharp remark in a distinctive tone, asking where those sweets were now and telling people to take them away.
Sweets Were Prepared at Anant Singh Residence
Prior to the vote counting, preparations for celebrations were already underway at the residence of Anant Singh. A large gathering of supporters had assembled, fueled by expectations that Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh would secure a massive victory. Anant Singh himself had expressed total confidence in this outcome, leading to the preparation of sweets even before the ballot boxes were opened.
Rebellion Led to Expulsion from the Party
During the electoral battle, Anant Singh openly defied the party leadership. Despite multiple attempts by the party to persuade him otherwise, he chose to back Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh and actively campaigned for him. He even accompanied Anuj Singh in a large convoy during the nomination filing process. Following the conclusion of voting for the MLC elections, the Janata Dal United took strict disciplinary action and expelled Anant Singh from the party for a period of 6 years.
Reactions Following the Expulsion
In his initial reaction after being ousted from the party, Anant Singh stated that the expulsion made no difference to him. He claimed that the party would be reduced to just a handful of seats in the upcoming elections and asserted that the organization had deteriorated. He also maintained that those who removed him would soon realize their standing. Prior to this development, Anant Singh and Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh faced legal trouble for violating the model code of conduct, resulting in the filing of 3 FIRs against them.
