Filing a police complaint turned dangerous for a 65 year old man in Madhya Pradesh's Katni district, where the accused tried to crush him under a car in broad daylight. The case comes from the NKJ police station area, where Bihari Lal Soni had lodged a complaint against Vinod Tiwari alias Gulani Maharaj. That very complaint enraged the accused so much that he allegedly went as far as attempting to kill the elderly man.
Complaint sparks the accused's fury
The accused is alleged to have first abused and beaten Bihari Lal after learning about the complaint filed against him. But the matter did not end there. Some time later, as Bihari Lal was riding home on a bike along with his two sons, the accused arrived in a car near the Juhli Mod canal bridge. There, he pressured the elderly man to withdraw his complaint and openly threatened that he would have to pay for it with his life.
Attempt to run him over near the bridge
The threat did not stop him from acting on it. The accused rammed the bike from behind, sending Bihari Lal and his two sons crashing onto the road. He then moved the car back and forth several times at the spot in an attempt to crush the elderly man before fleeing the scene.
Police make arrest, seize car
As soon as the incident was reported, NKJ police swung into action. A case was registered under attempt to murder along with several other sections, and the accused, Vinod Tiwari alias Gulani Maharaj, was arrested. Police have also seized the car used in the incident.
DSP confirms arrest, accused sent to jail
DSP Ratnesh Mishra said the accused was arrested and produced before the court, from where he was sent to jail. He said Bihari Lal Soni had filed a complaint at the police station, and when he was returning from there, Vinod Tiwari alias Gulani Maharaj arrived in a car and rammed the elderly man with it.
Panic in the area, questions over law and order
The incident has caused panic in the area, with people questioning the state of law and order, since criminals appear emboldened enough to attempt murder in broad daylight even after a complaint has been formally registered at the police station.
