Kavita Nagarjuna Death Case: Father moves Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking justice after police inaction

A Chennai-based businessman has filed a plea in the Madhya Pradesh High Court regarding the suspicious death of his 27-year-old daughter, Kavita Nagarjuna. He alleges that his son-in-law, an Army Major, murdered her over unmet dowry demands.

P Dakshinamurthy, a businessman from Chennai, has spent the last year fighting for justice following the death of his 27-year-old daughter, Kavita Nagarjuna. Having exhausted his attempts to seek redressal from the local police, he has now approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The family is awaiting a hearing on the petition, hoping it will uncover the truth behind her death.

The dowry demands

Kavita Nagarjuna married Om Nagarjuna, a native of Tamil Nadu, on 2 March 2025. Om Nagarjuna is currently posted as a Major at JKRRC in Jabalpur. P Dakshinamurthy states that he provided a significant amount of dowry for the wedding, which included 100 tola of gold, 3 crore rupees in cash, a diamond necklace worth 20 lakh rupees, an XUV-700 car, and household items valued at approximately 12 lakh rupees. Allegations suggest that despite these contributions, the demands from the in-laws continued.
