Taking to the social media platform X, Chinmayi Sripaada wrote that it would be wonderful if men in politics refrained from dragging women into their rhetoric who have nothing whatsoever to do with their schemes, and instead focused on genuine issues. Without directly naming Udhayanidhi and referring to him as the opposition leader, she noted that she initially failed to grasp the actual implication of what was stated. An acquaintance had to explain it to her later, as she initially assumed it pertained to a water connection. As it turned out, most women could not comprehend it either, describing it as entirely a men-centric conversation.

The singer further wrote that the speaker could have at least instructed his audience to remain silent or maintain basic decorum, but instead, something far worse transpired. She highlighted how the gathering cheered and jeered the moment Trisha's name was brought up. Adding further, she stated that within this systemic framework, it is very easy for anyone to claim that if a vulgar interpretation was derived, it is purely our fault and our minds are corrupted. However, she emphasized that she is old enough to remember precisely how this very system used to speak about the late Honorable Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The singer appealed to modern-day politicians to conduct themselves better. Concluding her note, she expressed deep disappointment, stating that women do not harbor nearly as much anger or solidarity as they ought to in such situations. She reminded everyone of Tamil Nadu's record of banning a singer from working simply because she and several other women came forward to accuse Vairamuthu of harassment, urging critics to remain silent.
The controversy originated on Monday, August 3, when Udhayanidhi criticized Vijay during a public rally over the Cauvery dispute for not voicing an opinion on the matter. When the crowd chanted Trisha's name, he allegedly uttered a double-entendre statement. As clips of the speech circulated widely online, widespread condemnation followed. Following his detention, actor-politician Khushbu Sundar has publicly demanded that Udhayanidhi issue an apology to Trisha Krishnan.
