Authorities in Bihar executed a strict law enforcement drive on 1 August by deploying a bulldozer during property attachment proceedings at the residence of the main accused in the Hajipur double murder case. A police team reached the home of accused Jagdish Rai in Rajasan village under the Bidupur police station jurisdiction. Executing court orders for property seizure, officers dismantled all window frames and doors while removing every item of household equipment from the premises. A strong police contingent was present throughout the operation to maintain order in the locality.
Double Homicide Stemming from Land Dispute
The tragedy originated in Rajasan village within the Bidupur police station area on 12 July 2026, when an escalation over a passage dispute culminated in violence. Attackers opened fire on Army soldier Jitendra Kumar and his father Murari Rai during the confrontation. Both victims sustained fatal gunshot wounds and died as a result of the shooting. The high-profile double murder generated intense public scrutiny and placed significant pressure on local law enforcement to track down the perpetrators quickly.
Main Accused Injured in Police Encounter
Following the crime, police initiated targeted raids across the region to apprehend the suspects. Law enforcement officers arrested the main accused, Jagdish Rai, on 13 July 2026. However, while being transported, Jagdish Rai snatched an official police firearm and attempted to flee from custody. In response, police personnel engaged in retaliatory firing, shooting him in both legs. The injured accused was subsequently neutralized, provided medical attention, and formally detained under heavy security.
Pre-Planned Conspiracy and Harboring Network Exposed
Investigative findings revealed that the perpetrators hatched a detailed conspiracy on 10 July 2026, two days prior to committing the double murder. Further investigative tracks led to the arrest of two additional suspects on 15 July 2026. Among them was Pankaj Rai, a resident of Patna who took charge of arranging shelter for Jagdish Rai following the killings. The second individual detained was a minor resident of a boys hostel in Patna, who is the son of Jagdish Rai's friend. Jagdish Rai was shifted into this hostel room to evade law enforcement after the crime.
Six Individuals Remanded to Judicial Custody
The attachment and demolition operation at the suspect's residence was conducted under the direct supervision of Hajipur Sadar SDPO Subodh Kumar. Providing updates regarding the case, Hajipur Sadar SDPO Subodh Kumar stated that a total of 6 individuals connected to the crime have been arrested and presented before the court. Police authorities emphasized that rigorous legal and physical measures against hardened criminal offenders will continue to ensure public safety and strict judicial accountability.
