In the Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh, a major anti-corruption operation has been successfully executed. The Lokayukta Ujjain team conducted a raid at the District Supply Office and arrested an accountant-in-charge while he was accepting a bribe. The individual, who serves as an Assistant Grade-3 clerk, was apprehended red-handed. The case revolves around the illegal demand for money in exchange for processing the pending dues of a retired government servant. The accused had allegedly demanded a total bribe of 1.5 lakh rupees, and he was caught while accepting the first installment of 50,000 rupees.

Investigation and Trap Operation

The case came to light following a complaint lodged by Vijay Kumar Borsiya, a resident of Jaora in Ratlam district. In his complaint to the Lokayukta in Ujjain, he stated that his father, Goverdhan Lal, who retired from the District Supply Officer’s office in Agar, was waiting for his terminal benefits. These included gratuity, insurance, and leave encashment, totaling approximately 27 lakh rupees. The complainant alleged that the office clerk, Manish Kumar Pandya, was demanding a significant bribe to release these funds.

Recognizing the severity of the matter, Lokayukta Inspector Deepak Sejwar verified the allegations. Once the complaint was confirmed as genuine, a specialized trap team was formed under the direction of Lokayukta Director General of Police Yogesh Deshmukh and led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Manoj Kumar Singh. On Thursday, as Manish Kumar Pandya accepted the 50,000 rupee bribe from the complainant, the Lokayukta team apprehended him on the spot.

Legal Proceedings and Action

According to the Lokayukta officials, the entire operation is being handled under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The operation was carried out by a 10-member team, which included DSP Dineshchand Patel and Inspector Deepak Sejwar. Lokayukta department sources confirmed that the accused, Manish Kumar Pandya, held the position of Assistant Grade-3 and was officiating as the accountant-in-charge. The complainant, Vijay Kumar Borsiya, had filed the formal complaint with the Lokayukta Superintendent of Police on July 8.

Following the verification process, the trap was laid, and the arrest occurred on Friday when the first installment of the bribe was handed over at the office. Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway, and the Lokayukta department is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover any further details regarding the extent of the corruption involved in this office.
