A major overhaul in the higher education landscape of Madhya Pradesh has been initiated by the Mohan Yadav government. The administration has decided to restructure the Rajiv Gandhi Technological University by dividing it into three distinct technical universities. Under this cabinet-approved restructuring, Bhopal, Ujjain, and Jabalpur will each house a newly formed technical education institution, aimed at decentralizing academic administration and making services more accessible to students across different regions of the state.
Geographical Division Of The New Universities
The newly created universities have been assigned specific regional jurisdictions to streamline operations. The Madhya Technology and Skill University based in Bhopal will govern all districts falling under the Bhopal, Narmadapuram, and Chambal divisions. Meanwhile, the Malwa Technology and Skill University will encompass all universities and institutions situated across the Ujjain and Indore divisions. Finally, the Mahakoshal Technology and Skill University located in Jabalpur will administer educational institutions spread over the Rewa and Sagar divisions.
Details Shared By PWD Minister
Elaborating on the administrative decision, PWD Minister Rakesh Singh stated that the existing institutional framework of the university encompasses 13 courses and 585 affiliated institutions. These establishments currently cater to a massive student body of over 383,000 learners. The decision to divide the institution was driven by geographical considerations and the necessity to make academic governance smoother for everyone involved. He added that the state already possesses adequate engineering colleges and sufficient land reserves across these regions to support the new campuses seamlessly.
Nomenclature Based On Chief Minister's Vision
The names of the newly announced institutions have been finalized based on specific suggestions put forward by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. All three restructured entities will be officially designated as technology and skill universities. The overarching vision behind this administrative step is to optimize the delivery of technical education and ensure that students in remote and regional districts do not face logistical hurdles in pursuing their academic goals.
Laptop Distribution For Meritorious Students
In a separate event held on the same day, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav drew widespread attention at a high-profile felicitation ceremony. Speaking at the talented student encouragement scheme event hosted at the Kushabhau Thakre International Auditorium in Bhopal, he distributed financial assistance for laptops to students who secured more than 75 percent marks in their class 12 board examinations. A massive financial outlay exceeding 304 crore rupees was digitally transferred into the bank accounts of over 121,000 beneficiaries, ensuring that every eligible student received an amount of 25,000 rupees to purchase a laptop.
