A catastrophic road accident occurred in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district on Friday morning when a passenger bus bound for Indore plunged off a flyover near Biaora town. The vehicle lost control while negotiating a turn on the Bhopal Bypass bridge, broke through the safety barrier wall, and crashed onto the service road 30 feet below. The impact resulted in the deaths of 5 passengers on the spot, while 12 others sustained varying degrees of injuries, with 4 critical victims being rushed to Bhopal for specialized care.
Bus Shatters Safety Wall on Bhopal Bypass
The incident took place at approximately 7:00 AM on Friday. According to police officials, the passenger sleeper bus was en route from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. As the bus approached the flyover on the Bhopal Bypass near Biaora, the driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle while taking a sharp turn at high speed. The bus violently struck the concrete safety barrier and overshot the structure, plummeting 30 feet down onto the underlying service road. Four passengers were ejected from the vehicle due to the severe collision force and landed directly on the pavement below.
Bengaluru Cyber Police Team on Suspect Pursuit
Among the occupants of the ill-fated bus was an operational team from the Bengaluru Cyber Police Cell, which was traveling to Indore to locate and apprehend an accused suspect in an ongoing investigation. Additional Superintendent of Police KL Banjare confirmed that 45-year-old Inspector Ravi KV, son of Bassappa and resident of Bengaluru, died in the crash. Other members of the police team, including Sub-Inspector Ramesh Nayak, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shrinivas (50), and technical staff member Vishwanath (39), sustained serious injuries during the incident.
Identification of the Deceased
Authorities confirmed the identities of the deceased victims following initial rescue operations. The deceased include Inspector Ravi KV of the Bengaluru Cyber Cell, bus driver Vikas Shukla, passenger Belal Ali (son of Kalimullah Mian), and Jyotiraditya Singh Gaud (son of Vikram Singh Gaud, resident of Bijwad). In total, 5 fatalities were confirmed at the accident site, and the police have dispatched the bodies for post-mortem examination.
Devotees Traveling for Mahakal Darshan Injured
Several passengers aboard the bus were traveling toward Ujjain to offer prayers at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. Amit Kumar Pratap, a resident of Mohammadpur in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, was traveling alongside his 37-year-old wife Meenu Singh, his 13-year-old son Rakshit Singh, and his 68-year-old father-in-law Surendra Pratap Singh, a resident of Hururi village in Jaunpur. The entire family suffered injuries in the collision. Due to the critical nature of Surendra Pratap Singh's injuries, medical staff transferred him to a higher medical facility in Bhopal.
Rescue Operations and Medical Referrals
Emergency response units and local police arrived quickly at the scene to extract trapped passengers and arrange emergency transit. All 12 injured victims were initially admitted to the Civil Hospital in Biaora. Owing to life-threatening trauma, doctors referred 4 critically injured individuals to Bhopal for advanced medical intervention. Those transferred to Bhopal include ASI Shrinivas of Bengaluru Police, Surendra Pratap Singh from Jaunpur, and 36-year-old Suman Sharma from Kanpur.
The remaining injured victims undergoing treatment include Vinod Kumar Singh (40) from Jaunpur, Ravi Sharma (42) and his 8-year-old son Parth Sharma from Kanpur, Keshav (28) from Aligarh, Sonu (39) from Sitapur, along with Bengaluru police personnel Ramesh Nayak and Vishwanath. Initial police assessments suggest that excessive speeding while taking the flyover curve led to the fatal loss of vehicle control.
