A tragic incident cast a heavy pall of gloom over Jalgaon city in Maharashtra on the festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan, as an 18 year old youth died by suicide at his residence in Dashrath Nagar. The deceased has been identified as Rohit Saheb Rao Dhangar. Prior to taking his own life, Rohit uploaded an emotional status update on social media dedicated to his sister, requesting her to look after their parents. He wrote, "Sister, now you handle everything. Do not leave mum and dad alone; I am leaving." He had also added a caption reading "Happy Raksha Bandhan Tai" to his status. The tragedy left the entire neighborhood heartbroken, especially when relatives saw the rakhi tied to his wrist by his sister earlier that morning.
Morning Celebrations and Family Engagements
According to available details, Rohit Dhangar resided with his parents and younger sister in Dashrath Nagar, situated along Asoda Road. On the morning of Friday, August 28, Rohit celebrated Raksha Bandhan at home, where his younger sister tied a rakhi around his wrist. Shortly after the ritual, Rohit escorted his sister to the new bus station so she could travel to their uncle's village. Meanwhile, other family members were engaged in festive visits. His mother had traveled to Asoda village in Chopda taluka to tie a rakhi to her brother. Later in the afternoon, Rohit accompanied his father to his aunt's home in the Mehrun locality for festival rituals and lunch.
Returned Home Alone Under Pretext of a Job Opportunity
While at his aunt's house in Mehrun, around 2 PM in the afternoon, Rohit informed his father that he was securing a job opportunity and needed to step out briefly, promising to return soon. Instead of attending to work, Rohit returned alone to his family home in Dashrath Nagar. Finding the house empty, he committed suicide by hanging. A short while later, local residents and relatives discovered what had happened and immediately rushed him to the Government Medical College and Hospital. However, attending medical officers examined Rohit and declared him dead on arrival.
Heartbreaking Scenes at the Government Hospital
When family members arrived at the medical facility and saw Rohit's body, the rakhi tied by his sister earlier that morning was still intact on his wrist, triggering intense grief and tears among everyone present. Rohit was a student at Siddhi Vinayak Vidyalaya in the MIDC area. His father works as a daily wage laborer in the MIDC industrial belt. The sudden loss of the young student on a major festival day has left Dashrath Nagar in deep shock, while authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
