The incident took place on Saturday evening inside the Romano restaurant at the JW Marriott property in Sahar, Mumbai. Dr. Ashok Seth was having dinner along with companions when a small cockroach appeared on the tabletop, wandering around the cutlery and plates laid out for the meal. Stunned by the unhygienic scene, the cardiologist lost his appetite immediately and declined to continue eating.
On Sunday evening, Dr. Seth uploaded the captured video clip to social media platform X, describing the intruder with sharp satire. He remarked that an uninvited dining companion had arrived at the table and refused to leave despite repeated attempts to shoo it away, quipping that the insect seemed to want pizza rather than pasta. Tagging the state FDA commissioner Tukaram Mundhe alongside the hotel, Dr. Seth noted that being within the administrator's operational jurisdiction gave him hope that appropriate regulatory scrutiny would follow.
