A disturbing incident of road harassment and intimidation involving a judicial officer has come to light in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) Judge Shashikant Bangar, along with his family, was intercepted by two unidentified miscreants in the Dadar area of the city. The perpetrators recorded videos of the vehicle and subsequently hurled verbal abuse at the judge and his wife, while also issuing explicit death threats when questioned about their conduct.
Late-Night Interception Near Iranian Restaurant
The incident transpired on July 13 at approximately 10:15 PM in the Dadar TT locality. Judge Shashikant Bangar was returning to Mumbai from Dhule, traveling in his SUV alongside his wife Vidya Bangar and daughter Sakshi Bangar. As their vehicle approached a well-known Iranian restaurant in the area, two unknown individuals abruptly blocked the SUV's path and began filming the car and its occupants using their mobile phones.
Confrontation Over Dashboard Title Plate
Observing the suspicious behavior, Judge Bangar inquired about the reason for the unauthorized video recording. Instead of explaining their actions, the two men became confrontational and challenged the official 'Judge' designation plate displayed on the vehicle's dashboard. They questioned the authenticity of the judge's identity and turned aggressive. When the judge and his wife Vidya protested against the illegal recording and hostile questioning, the suspects escalated the matter by using abusive language against the couple and issuing death threats to the entire family.
Matunga Police Register Case and Launch Probe
Following the harrowing experience, the judge formally reported the matter to law enforcement authorities. Acting on the complaint, the Matunga Police Station registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two unidentified individuals under relevant legal provisions. Police officials have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the event, reviewing footage from surrounding closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to ascertain the identities of the suspects and trace their movements.
