Mumbai Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into an unidentified YouTube content creator after a fraudulent short video claimed that a 55-year-old photography teacher was the husband of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde. Acting on a formal complaint lodged by the affected resident, officers at the Kalachowki police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) on August 27 to track down the individual responsible for crafting and circulating the defamatory content.
Unauthorized Use of Photos and Private Details of Byculla Resident
The victim, a 55-year-old photography instructor residing in the Byculla locality of Mumbai, discovered that his image had been used alongside that of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde without his knowledge or authorization. The creator assembled these pictures into a YouTube Shorts video that falsely presented the teacher as Mayor Tawde's spouse.
According to the complainant, he first became aware of the video's existence on August 26 when a woman residing in his apartment building forwarded him the YouTube link via WhatsApp. Upon watching the clip, he discovered that in addition to misrepresenting his marital status, the video publicly displayed sensitive personal details, including his full name, educational background, profession, religion, personal hobbies, and family background. The teacher stated in his complaint that the widespread dissemination of such baseless claims severely damaged his public reputation and social standing.
Police Target 'gk-shorts-videos' YouTube Channel
Investigations revealed that the misleading content was published under a YouTube channel named 'gk-shorts-videos'. The Kalachowki police station has initiated technical probes, gathering digital footprints and tracing IP addresses to establish the exact identity of the person operating the channel.
To assist the ongoing legal proceedings, the complainant provided law enforcement officials with detailed screenshots of the video and its metadata. Police officers confirmed that efforts are underway to pinpoint the exact origin of the upload and apprehend the creator under applicable cyber and criminal laws.
Tragic Poisoning Incident Reported in Chembur
In a separate crime development from the city, the RCF police station in Chembur has arrested a man following the suspicious death of his 24-year-old girlfriend. Police officials suspect that the perpetrator secretly spiked the young woman's soft drink with poison, leading to her death.
Initial police findings indicate that the suspect committed the act out of intense suspicion and jealousy, believing that the victim was involved in a romantic relationship with another man. The police have taken the accused into custody as further forensic and legal investigations continue.
