A horrific incident has shaken Nagpur, Maharashtra, highlighting a grim domestic tragedy where a 45-year-old man lost his life after allegedly attempting to molest his 17-year-old daughter. According to the police, the intoxicated father tried to force himself upon the minor girl inside their home. When she resisted his advances and an altercation ensued, the 12th-grade student picked up a cricket bat and struck him on the head in self-defense. The injuries proved fatal, and in an astonishing turn of events, the minor herself called the 112 emergency helpline to report the attack to the authorities.
Details of the MIDC Police Station Jurisdiction
The incident occurred within the limits of the MIDC police station in Nagpur. The 17-year-old accused is a student currently studying in the 12th standard. The deceased father has been identified as 45-year-old Jaipal Barelal Kholpitne. Police investigations reveal that Jaipal was addicted to alcohol, which frequently fueled violent disputes within the household. On the fateful night, he returned home heavily inebriated and allegedly tried to get intimate with his daughter by force. As the daughter strongly protested, the argument escalated rapidly, prompting her to grab the wooden bat and strike him.
Legal Proceedings and Juvenile Custody
Based on a formal complaint filed by the deceased man's wife, the MIDC police registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The minor girl has been taken into custody, and due to her juvenile status, all subsequent legal procedures are being handled in strict accordance with the rules established under the juvenile justice system. The girl has been transferred to a juvenile observation home in Amravati. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are continuing their probe to ascertain the exact sequence of events, the precise circumstances surrounding the assault, and the medical cause of death.
Another Incident in Pardi: Man Dies After Crowd Assaults Him Over Alleged Abuse
In a separate and unrelated case reported from the Pardi police station jurisdiction in Nagpur, a 35-year-old man lost his life after being beaten by an enraged mob for allegedly attempting to assault a 9-year-old girl. Following the incident, police registered a case against the perpetrators under the POCSO Act. The accused, who was assaulted by locals, succumbed to his injuries during medical treatment. Authorities have registered a separate case against the individuals involved in the mob assault and launched an operation to apprehend them.
Police Scrutinize CCTV Footage for Clues
According to police records, the deceased man in the second case has been identified as Narayan Das Mohandas Vaishnav, a resident of Pardi Shivnagar who originally hailed from Chhattisgarh and worked as a daily-wage laborer in the area. On Monday night, he allegedly harassed a young child, who immediately raised an alarm and informed her parents and neighbors. Enraged by the act, a group of locals apprehended Narayan Das and subjected him to a severe beating.
Reports indicate that around 8 to 10 people were part of the mob that attacked him, though he reportedly did not know them personally. By the time police arrived at the scene, the attackers had already fled. Investigators are currently scanning local CCTV footage to identify the culprits and have detained a few suspects for questioning, although no concrete leads have been established yet.
