A tragic incident driven by personal enmity unfolded in the Hinjawadi area of Pune district, Maharashtra, where a young man working as a PG manager was brutally beaten to death with an iron rod. The terrifying assault also left a young woman critically injured, and she is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Police responded swiftly following the incident and successfully apprehended the primary suspect involved in the murder.
Chronology of Events at the PG Accommodation
The sequence of events began on Wednesday night when a young woman arrived at a seven-story paying guest facility located in Hinjawadi, intending to stay for a duration of one month. Upon her arrival, she informed the PG operator that Sagar Gaikwad, who was working there as a manager, was her boyfriend. Notably, Sagar Gaikwad had joined the establishment as a manager just four days prior. Based on her declaration, Sagar allocated her accommodation in room number 310 on the third floor of the building.
Confrontation on the Third Floor
On Thursday afternoon, a young man identified as Dinesh Mahadev Jhambre entered the PG premises. He informed the staff on duty that he wished to meet Sagar and proceeded directly to the third floor. Within moments of his arrival upstairs, loud screams echoed from the floor. Shocked staff members and residents rushed to the third floor to investigate the commotion, only to discover a terrifying scene unfolding near room number 310.
Fatal Assault and Critical Injuries
Upon reaching the scene, onlookers found Sagar Gaikwad collapsed on the floor covered in blood, while the accused, Dinesh, was repeatedly striking him with a heavy iron rod. When the young woman attempted to intervene and save Sagar, Dinesh turned on her and launched a violent attack with the same iron rod. Sagar Gaikwad succumbed to his extensive injuries on the spot. The injured woman was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, where her condition remains serious.
Background of the Love Triangle and Motive
Investigation revealed that the accused Dinesh Mahadev Jhambre and the injured woman had known each other since their school days and had been in a relationship. Both had relocated to Pune together to pursue their BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) degrees. However, after moving to the city, the woman gradually grew closer to Sagar Gaikwad. Police believe that resentment stemming from this love triangle and interpersonal conflict prompted Dinesh to execute the deadly crime.
CCTV Evidence and Police Action
The entire horrifying attack was captured by security cameras installed throughout the PG facility. Law enforcement officers secured the CCTV footage to establish the exact sequence of events and build a strong evidentiary case. Based on the video records and initial findings, police launched a swift operation and arrested the main suspect, Dinesh Mahadev Jhambre. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
