A truly shocking and spine-chilling incident has come to light from Baramati, Maharashtra, where a marital relationship that began with traditional wedding vows took a sinister and terrifying turn. Sharmila constructed a dedicated concrete grave inside her own home with the intention of burying her husband alive. However, the macabre plot was exposed in the nick of time when the labourers hired to build the chamber grew suspicious of the unusual structure and reported the matter to the authorities, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused wife by the police.
Unravelling the Horrific Plot
According to details shared by the local police department, Sharmila Jagtap orchestrated a meticulously planned attempt on the life of her husband, Pravin Jagtap. First, she allegedly administered sedatives to him, rendering him deeply unconscious. Once he was incapacitated, she attacked him using a cricket bat. To ensure he would never return, a brick-and-cement chamber was hurriedly constructed inside the house to serve as a makeshift tomb where he could be buried alive. Fortunately, the workers building the underground-style enclosure sensed that something was gravely amiss and contacted the police helpline right away, averting a gruesome tragedy and saving the victim.
Victim Works as a Manager in a Private Firm
The horrifying episode unfolded inside a residential flat located within Indraprastha Society on Jamdar Road in Baramati city. Investigators noted that the sequence of events transpired between the night of July 30 and the morning of August 1. The victim, 41-year-old Pravin Prakash Jagtap, is employed as a manager at a private enterprise. Law enforcement authorities promptly apprehended his 38-year-old wife, Sharmila Pravin Jagtap, in connection with the crime and launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the exact motives behind the shocking assassination attempt.
The Attempt to Seal the Victim Inside an Unfinished Chamber
Preliminary findings from the police inquiry indicate that domestic discord served as the primary trigger for the extreme violence. After subduing her husband with drugs and inflicting blunt-force trauma with a cricket bat while he was semi-conscious, the accused erected a square brick-and-cement enclosure in the gallery adjacent to the living room. The plan was to place Pravin inside this unfinished enclosure and seal the top shut using heavy Kadappa stone slabs. The timely intervention of the observant workers, who placed an emergency call to the police, ensured that the wife's sinister design was thwarted before it could reach its final conclusion.
