Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday urged all stakeholders across the state to step forward and become active partners in promoting local tourism. He noted that the sector serves as a powerful catalyst for generating employment, fostering entrepreneurship, and driving local economic activity throughout the region.
World Tourism Day 2026 Celebration
Khemchand Singh made these remarks while participating in the official observance of World Tourism Day 2026 held at the Sangai Ethnic Park in Moirang Khunou, located within the Bishnupur District. He attended the gathering alongside Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. The official observance was centered around the theme 'Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism', which focuses on leveraging modern digital innovations to transform the tourism landscape.
Economic Opportunities and Viksit Bharat
Highlighting the vast potential of the tourism industry, the Chief Minister explained that it creates vital livelihood opportunities for youth, traditional artisans, performers, farmers, homestay operators, and local guides. He expressed that tourism can act as Manipur's direct contribution to the national vision of Viksit Bharat, enabling the region to participate more meaningfully in the broader journey of national development. Sharing his thoughts on the occasion via a post on X, he formally appealed to all community and business stakeholders to join hands in building a robust tourism ecosystem.
