Manipur has achieved major recognition by clinching the top position among the hilly and northeastern states in the India Electric Mobility Index 2025, an evaluation issued by NITI Aayog. Meanwhile, in the Open Category, Delhi secured the top rank, followed closely by Maharashtra, Karnataka and Chandigarh. The accolade honors the state for its robust performance in fostering electric mobility and expanding sustainable transportation.
Delegation Receives the Recognition
This milestone highlights the region's dedicated push to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and build a supportive framework for clean transit. A delegation representing the Manipur government accepted the honor, led by Principal Secretary for Transport R.K. Dinesh Singh. The team also included Special Secretary for TCI Laltanpuii, Transport Director Kh. Diana Devi, Priyoranjan representing MSPCL, and Imphal West DTO Kh. Sanjeevkumar.

Authorities noted that the achievement reflects the synchronized collaboration between the Transport Department, Power Department, MAHUD, and various stakeholders working toward the state's clean mobility goals. Manipur has implemented multiple initiatives to reinforce infrastructure for electric mobility and promote eco-friendly transit alternatives. Officials also credited active public participation and the rising adoption of electric vehicles for driving this progress, stating that the milestone will further energize efforts toward building a cleaner and greener transportation network.
