Security personnel operating across three separate districts of Manipur have successfully detained nine individuals linked to banned insurgent outfits while recovering a massive assortment of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. The intelligence-driven crackdown spanned multiple locations as joint teams moved in to disrupt active militant networks operating within the region.
Coordinated Multi-District Raids
The targeted operations unfolded simultaneously across the districts of Thoubal, Kakching, and Churachandpur. Joint contingents comprising personnel from the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and state commando units spearheaded the mission. A defense spokesperson noted that six columns of the Assam Rifles, backed extensively by local police and tactical commando squads, executed the coordinated maneuvers against suspected operatives belonging to the outlawed factions.
Links to Outlawed Insurgent Factions
Authorities revealed that the captured suspects maintain direct affiliations with the People's Liberation Army alongside its political wing, the United People's Party of Kangleipak, as well as the United Kuki National Army. Beyond the arrests, the extensive sweep yielded crucial intelligence regarding extortion syndicates, surveillance tactics, and underground financial networks utilized by these armed groups to sustain their operations.
Massive Arsenal and Explosives Recovered
During the subsequent search sweeps through the targeted areas, security forces uncovered a substantial stockpile of military-grade hardware and dangerous materials. The recovered cache features an AK-47 rifle, a.303 Light Machine Gun complete with an extra barrel, three INSAS rifles, four single-barrel firearms, and two 9mm handguns. Furthermore, forces seized 2,156 rounds of live ammunition spanning various calibers, 29 magazines, 157 empty shell casings, 1.5 kilograms of commercial plastic explosives, 14 detonators, and specialized communication hardware.
Handed Over for Legal Proceedings
Following the conclusion of the field operations, all detained suspects alongside the confiscated weaponry and explosive substances were transferred to local police jurisdictions for subsequent legal action. Officials confirmed that the handovers occurred across police stations located in Kakching, Sugnu, Thoubal, Waikhong, Hiyanglam, Wangoo, and Arong.
