Retail gold prices in Bangalore experienced a noticeable upward rally, capturing the focus of domestic jewellery buyers and metal investors. The advance across physical counters in India unfolded against a backdrop of ongoing volatility in international bullion markets. Global bullion has been confronting persistent headwinds generated by expectations of elevated US interest rates alongside a resilient dollar. Spot gold in international trade edged lower on Tuesday as participants evaluated the monetary path mapped out by the Federal Reserve, with silver also giving up ground overseas.
Bangalore Physical Gold and Silver Price Action
In the local retail market, 22-carat gold rates recorded a sharp markup. The price of 100 grams of 22-carat gold advanced by Rs. 8500, lifting the cumulative retail cost to Rs. 14,97,000. In parallel fashion, pure 24-carat gold prices tracked higher, surging by Rs. 9300 per 100 grams to retail at Rs. 16,33,100 across Bangalore showrooms.
Unlike the sharp surge seen in the yellow metal, silver rates in Bangalore held steady at the previous day's mark. The price of 1 kilogram of silver currently stands at Rs. 2,90,000 per kg, while 100 grams of silver trades at a proportional Rs. 29,000 per 10 grams in local outlets, providing relative stability for industrial and decorative metal consumers.
Multi Commodity Exchange Futures Trends
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, commodity futures contracts pointed downward during active trading hours. Gold futures designated for April 2nd delivery slipped by 0.37%, changing hands around Rs. 1,62,700 per 10 grams. In a corresponding move, silver futures slated for May 5th expiry traded down 1.07% to quote at Rs. 2,74,855 per kg.
Domestic bullion investors approached Wednesday with gold consolidating while silver continued to maintain comparatively stronger underlying momentum. Looking at previous MCX settlements, October gold closed Tuesday down 0.25% at Rs. 1,52,716 per 10 grams. December silver futures managed to settle 0.24% higher at Rs. 2,39,888 per kg.
Weekly Performance and Key Technical Triggers
A broader inspection of weekly price action highlights divergent trajectories between the two precious metals. Gold has appreciated by 1.26% since September 15. In comparison, silver has forged ahead with a 3.35% advance. While silver's outperformance underscores robust upward momentum, it also reflects heightened price risk for participants. Underscoring this volatility, Tuesday's silver contract swung through an intraday range of nearly Rs. 4,840 per kg, even as gold remained constrained by high borrowing costs.
From a chart perspective, gold enters Wednesday with immediate floor support situated near Rs. 1,51,500, below which the next crucial defensive zone lies at Rs. 1,50,000. On the upside, overhead resistance is anticipated around Rs. 1,53,500, with secondary resistance at Rs. 1,54,600. For silver, technical support is positioned in the Rs. 2,35,500 to Rs. 2,36,000 zone. Should silver establish a sustained breakout above Rs. 2,40,500, it could pave the path toward Rs. 2,43,000.
Federal Reserve Outlook and International Benchmarks
Broader financial conditions remain anchored to central bank actions. The US Federal Reserve raised its policy benchmark rate to the 3.75-4% corridor last week, and its economic projections leave room open for another potential interest rate hike later this year. Elevated bond yields traditionally curb the appetite for non-yielding bullion assets, although continuing geopolitical frictions offer an underlying layer of baseline support.
In global benchmark pricing, Trading Economics indicated that spot gold declined by 0.43% to reach $4345.19 per ounce. Spot silver registered a 0.55% downturn, trading at $66.7 per ounce. Market participants will keep tracking these international macro indicators to gauge subsequent price directions on Indian trading desks.
