Construction work on the upcoming IT Park located at Doldegre in Tura is advancing on schedule, recording 78.67 per cent physical progress alongside 75 per cent financial progress. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma shared these official development updates in a written response to a question submitted in the state Legislative Assembly by Gambegre MLA Dr Mehtab Chandee A Sangma.
Financial Allocations and Project Execution
The landmark infrastructure project has secured a total financial outlay of Rs 126.94 crore, sanctioned by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Chief Minister Sangma confirmed that the entire sanctioned amount of Rs 126.94 crore has already been disbursed to facilitate uninterrupted construction activity. With the funding completely released, state authorities are concurrently putting strategic plans in place to guarantee that the facility is put to immediate and effective operational use upon completion.
Industry Engagement and Satellite Operational Units
To ensure high occupancy and active utilization of space, state officials are holding targeted discussions with technology firms currently based at the Shillong Technology Park. The state administration is encouraging these enterprises to expand their presence by establishing satellite centers or smaller operational branch units within the new Tura facility. Furthermore, government agencies including PRIME and the Meghalaya Investment Promotion Authority are partnering with premier investment and industry organizations, such as Invest India and Nasscom, to optimize space allocation and drive investment.
Skill Building and Local Employment Opportunities
The primary vision behind developing the technology infrastructure in Tura is to generate sustainable career avenues for youth across Meghalaya by attracting modern tech enterprises to the state. To complement commercial office space, the Tura Tech Park complex will incorporate dedicated Skill Development Centres and Incubation Centres. These specialized units will deliver practical technical training, operational support, and mentorship to nurture emerging entrepreneurs and build a skilled workforce across the region.
