Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has restructured the state cabinet by reassigning ministerial portfolios to three Cabinet ministers. According to an official notification released by the state government on Tuesday, November 3, the administrative responsibilities were revised to streamline governance across key sectors. The order, issued by the Cabinet Affairs Department on November 3, 2026, confirmed that the Governor approved these modifications upon the advice of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, bringing the new assignments into immediate effect as a partial amendment to the previous portfolio allocation order from September 16, 2025.
Key Portfolios for Timothy D. Shira and Paul Lyngdoh
Under the revised administrative setup, Cabinet Minister Timothy D. Shira has taken charge of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Power, and Water Resources. These portfolios place critical rural infrastructure, energy distribution, and agrarian development under his direct ministerial purview.
Paul Lyngdoh, who recently returned to the state cabinet, has been assigned the Tourism, Social Welfare, and Arts and Culture departments. The Tourism and Social Welfare portfolios were previously overseen by him before he was removed from the council of ministers during a reshuffle last year. Lyngdoh had lost his Cabinet berth when the United Democratic Party (UDP) chose to replace both him and Kyrmen Shylla with party president Metbah Lyngdoh and Lahkmen Rymbui. His latest assignment follows shortly after taking oath as a Cabinet minister, a move that came after he switched allegiance from the United Democratic Party (UDP) to the National People's Party (NPP).
Diverse Departmental Responsibilities for Sanbor Shullai
Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai has been entrusted with five distinct departments under the revised distribution. His new assignments include Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, Taxation, Legal Metrology, along with Printing and Stationery. The reallocation establishes a refreshed administrative alignment across multiple operational and revenue-linked departments in the state.
