Dr Alok Singh, an Assistant Professor of Hindi at the Shillong campus of North-Eastern Hill University, has been conferred with the prestigious Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award. The academic honour acknowledges his dedicated work across the fields of literature and education, with special recognition given to his persistent efforts to popularise and promote the Hindi language in Meghalaya and throughout the wider Northeastern region.

The felicitation took place on September 19 during a commemorative gathering organised by the Shillong unit of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation. The event was held to mark the 11th death anniversary of former President and distinguished scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Dignitaries and speakers gathered at the venue paid rich tributes to Kalam, recalling his immense contributions to scientific progress, educational reforms, and nation-building, while revisiting his enduring vision for youth empowerment in India.
