The deadline for domestic LPG gas consumers to complete their mandatory e-KYC verification is fast approaching. Customers associated with Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas have until August 16, 2026, to verify their gas connections. Consumers who fail to finish this verification by the stipulated date will find their LPG cylinder refill deliveries suspended. Furthermore, the disbursement of government subsidies linked to LPG connections will also be put on hold until the process is fulfilled. Consequently, consumers are advised to complete their verification without waiting for the final day.
Who Needs to Complete the LPG e-KYC Verification
According to directives issued by oil marketing companies, this e-KYC verification process is compulsory for all existing and new domestic consumers across Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas networks. However, consumers who have completed their e-KYC recently are exempt from undergoing the process again. This initiative is particularly targeted at long-term account holders who have not updated or verified their credentials for an extended period.
Additionally, completing the verification is mandatory for all beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. If Ujjwala scheme recipients fail to complete their e-KYC before the deadline, direct benefit subsidy transfers to their bank accounts will be halted immediately. The primary objective of this exercise is to eliminate duplicate connections, enhance system transparency, and ensure that government welfare subsidies reach genuine consumers.
Step-by-Step Guide for Online and Offline e-KYC
To facilitate ease of access, LPG distribution companies have enabled both online and offline routes for completing e-KYC. For offline verification, consumers must physically visit their designated local gas agency office. At the office, customers need to submit essential identification documents, including their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and a passport-size photograph, whereupon agency representatives will complete the biometric verification.
Alternatively, consumers preferring a contactless digital method can perform the verification within minutes using official mobile applications on their smartphones. Online e-KYC relies on facial authentication technology. Depending on the provider, consumers can utilize the following dedicated mobile apps
- Indane Customers: Consumers registered with Indane can execute their e-KYC via facial authentication on the Indane OilOne app.
- Bharat Gas Customers: Users of Bharat Gas can complete their verification process through the Hello BPCL app.
- HP Gas Customers: HP Gas subscribers can conveniently submit their e-KYC credentials using the HP Pay app.
Consequences of Missing the Deadline and Late Resolution
If consumers encounter technical glitches or authentication failures while attempting online verification through smartphone apps, they are advised to contact their distributor agency office directly for assistance. Gas distribution officials have reassured the public that missing the August 16, 2026 deadline will not result in permanent cancellation of the gas connection.
Subscribers who fail to meet the August 16 deadline can still complete their e-KYC process after the date has passed. However, connection holders must note that cylinder bookings and home deliveries will remain blocked as long as the e-KYC stays pending. Once the verification is successfully processed and updated in the system, standard cylinder delivery services will resume immediately.
