To empower women entrepreneurs and foster female self-employment, the State Bank of India (SBI) is offering dedicated financial assistance through its Stree Shakti Scheme. Designed specifically for businesswomen, this initiative provides structured funding for launching new commercial enterprises or expanding existing operations across the manufacturing, trading, and services sectors.
Loan Limits and Operational Capital Support
Under the SBI Stree Shakti initiative, eligible women business owners can access financing up to Rs 25 crore, depending on their specific operational demands. The scheme encompasses both working capital facilities to manage routine business expenses and term loans intended for capital investments. The final loan amount is sanctioned following thorough business evaluation and eligibility assessments by the bank. For large-scale business operations exceeding Rs 2 crore, the applicable interest rate is linked to the borrower's credit rating.
Interest Rate Concessions and Cost Savings
A key advantage of the Stree Shakti Scheme is the interest concession provided to women applicants. SBI offers an interest rate discount of up to 0.50 percent on loan amounts up to Rs 2 crore. This interest reduction lowers borrowing costs, enhancing capital efficiency for women-led enterprises. Final interest terms and applicable processing fees remain subject to bank policies, making it essential for applicants to verify complete terms at their local SBI branch prior to applying.
Specialized Sub-Schemes: Annapurna and Shringaar
To cater to distinct business categories, SBI has incorporated specialized sub-schemes within the Stree Shakti program. The Annapurna Scheme caters to female entrepreneurs operating food catering services, tiffin setups, or restaurants. Similarly, the Shringaar Scheme provides funding tailored for beauty parlors, salons, and cosmetics businesses. These targeted categories allow women to select financial support customized to their industry needs.
Repayment Schedules and Margin Money Requirements
Loan repayment schedules vary according to the loan category and business structure. For term loans, SBI provides flexible repayment tenures ranging from 7 to 10 years, relieving monthly cash flow pressure on growing enterprises. Working capital limits are structured around the company's operational cash flow. Additionally, applicants must provide margin money, which generally ranges between 15 percent and 25 percent of the required capital depending on the loan quantum. Borrowers should assess their financial capability before submitting applications.
Collateral Relief through CGTMSE Credit Guarantee
To assist women who may lack tangible assets for collateral, the Stree Shakti Scheme offers credit guarantee coverage through the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE). Under this framework, collateral requirements may be waived for loans up to Rs 1 crore in select cases. However, collateral waivers are not automatic and depend on the bank's evaluation of the applicant's eligibility and program rules.
Application Procedure and Document List
Eligible women can apply for the Stree Shakti loan online via the official SBI website or by visiting a local State Bank of India branch. Dedicated women assistance desks are available at bank branches to assist applicants. The bank also offers competitive processing fees, flexible repayment schedules, and business advisory services.
