A tragic accident in Dimapur, Nagaland, claimed the lives of two teenagers after a speeding vehicle struck them in a series of collisions on Saturday night. Police confirmed the incident on Sunday, detailing how a single vehicle caused chaos and destruction in the local neighborhood.
Chain of Collisions in Veterinary Colony
The incident unfolded in the Veterinary Colony when an out-of-control vehicle allegedly crashed into a motorcycle before slamming into a parked car and a tempo. According to the Public Relations Officer of Dimapur Police, the vehicle did not stop there and subsequently veered into two pedestrians walking along the road.
Critical Injuries and Fatal Outcome
The two teenagers suffered severe, life-threatening injuries from the violent impact. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by emergency responders for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical staff, both victims succumbed to their injuries later.
Victims Identification
Authorities identified the deceased as 15-year-old Macagbou Charenamai, who hailed from the Senapati district in Manipur, and 17-year-old Gaisinlung Thangmei, a native of Kohima. At the time of the tragic accident, both teenagers were residing in the Burma Camp area of Dimapur.
Driver Arrested and Investigation Underway
Law enforcement officials acted swiftly following the incident and arrested the accused driver, identified as Bumei Phom. A formal criminal case has been registered against him at the East Police Station in Dimapur. Police stated that further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is currently ongoing.
