A train service connecting Bandra Terminus with Jaipur through Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam and Ajmer is set to move from temporary status to a permanent fixture on the Western Railway network. The upgrade takes effect from August 26, after which travellers will be able to book seats on this route as part of a regular timetable rather than a limited-run special. This corridor links a Mumbai suburb with Rajasthan's capital, and once formalised, it will run on fixed weekly days that passengers can plan around well in advance.
Why the train is being upgraded
The service currently operates as a special train under numbers 09724/09723 between Bandra and Jaipur. Officials at Western Railway say the special train drew strong demand from passengers, with seats filling up consistently and interest holding steady over time, prompting the decision to convert it into a permanent fixture rather than keep running it as a limited special. Starting August 26, the train will run under new numbers 19724/19723 as part of the regular schedule.
Departure and arrival timings on both legs
Train number 19723, the Jaipur-Bandra Terminus Express, will leave Jaipur every Wednesday from August 26 at 08:20 am and reach Bandra Terminus the following morning at 05:10 am. On the return leg, train number 19724, the Bandra Terminus-Jaipur Express, will depart Bandra Terminus every Thursday from August 27 at 08:35 am and arrive in Jaipur the next morning at 06:45 am. In effect, the service will run once a week in each direction, linking the two cities on a predictable, recurring schedule.
Stations along the route
During its journey, the train will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat and Vadodara before continuing on to Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Mandal, Bijainagar, Nasirabad, Ajmer and Kishangarh, giving passengers across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan direct access to the route. Coach options span a wide budget range, including First AC, Second AC, Third AC, Third AC Economy, Sleeper Class and General Class, meaning both premium travellers and budget-conscious passengers will find a class suited to their needs.
Departure time from Bandra will shift earlier
Western Railway has flagged an important change for passengers who already hold reservations on the existing special train number 09724. Once the regular service begins, train number 19724, the Bandra Terminus-Jaipur Express, will leave Bandra Terminus roughly 55 minutes earlier than its current schedule, departing at 08:35 am instead of the earlier 09:30 am slot. Passengers with existing bookings are advised to reach the station well ahead of time so they do not end up missing the train because of the revised departure slot.
