A road accident on the Katra-Tarakot route in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday left nine CISF personnel injured. The incident took place in the Tarakot area along the Reasi road while the jawans were being transported to Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan for duty deployment.
Brakes Failed, Vehicle Struck a Hillside
According to the driver, the vehicle's brakes suddenly failed, causing him to lose control. The vehicle then veered off the road and collided with a hillside, injuring all nine jawans on board. Authorities have preliminarily identified brake failure as the cause of the crash, though the exact reason will only be confirmed once a technical investigation is completed.
Rescue and Medical Response
The local administration and relief teams reached the accident site promptly after news of the incident spread. All nine injured personnel were taken to Community Health Centre (CHC) Katra for initial medical attention. Following a thorough assessment, doctors found three of the jawans to be critically injured and referred them to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for advanced treatment.
Personnel Were Bound for Vaishno Devi Shrine Duty
The CISF jawans were being deployed via the Tarakot route from Katra to the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan road as part of a routine duty transfer when the brakes gave way. Police and administrative officials subsequently inspected the accident site and launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances of the crash. All injured personnel remain under medical care, and the administration is closely monitoring their recovery.
